Knautia macedonica

The fantastic seed head of Knautia macedonica

The idea of the Plant Enthusiast, like most things happened on a summers evening in the garden over a glass of red wine, some French bread and it has to be said some rather pony cheese.

What do I want to do when I grow up, a question that had been coming to the front of my mind more and more over the last year or two. The day job was getting harder to bear, having worked as Head of Horticulture, learner support and special needs at a college, following a reshuffle all I was doing was looking at spreadsheets and worrying about numbers.

This is not what I had gone to college myself to achieve.

So, with fear and trepidation the day came when I could stand it no more, and I resigned, with the aim of spending more time with plants.

You see plants are and always have been what motivate me, I am at my happiest when I am in their company, a warm day, a modicum of sun, my camera and a garden to explore.

The images I come back with are rarely those of the garden though, the images are close ups of the plants in all their glory.

So I guess I am much more a Plant Enthusiast than gardener.

And so the idea of a blog that celebrates plants was born, a chance to share my plant photography and a chance to share my passion with follow plantaholics!

I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I have creating it.
