As the sky darkened, as night was falling, and as the snow started to settle it would be reasonable to wonder why anyone would head out into a garden.
RHS Harlow Carr, like many UK gardens have taken the plunge to invite people to enjoy a winter glow.
Plant purists may raise an eyebrow slightly at such a move, however, could there be a better way to engage a new generation of gardener?
The car park was filled with buggies, and excited parents heading into the cold.
The garden was magnificent, the winter borders with their fabulous winter stems were thoughtfully illuminated, trees glowed in the winter night and the stream that both divides and defines RHS Harlow Carr resembled a Monet Painting. Families laughed, and couple kissed under the giant mistletoe sculpture.
The experience was so fabulous, that a repeat visit was arranged for the following evening.
