Eryngium x zabelli ‘Neptunes Gold’ is a stunning new plant, which was bred by Seiont Nursery’s Neil Alcock. It is the first Sea Holly to have golden foliage.
Eryngium x zabelli ‘Neptunes Gold’ is the first Sea Holly to have yellow foliage and bracts with blue flowers and stems that develop a deep blue colour.
Hotly tipped to win the RHS Chelsea Flower Show new plant of the year for 2014, but pipped to the post by Hydrangea “Miss Saori” this plant really does look stunning.
While stocks are being grown up for the 2015 season we spotted this specimen at Ferndale Garden Centre in Sheffield.
“Neptune’s Gold’ was discovered as a seedling in Neil Alcock’s garden, and has been launched after 7 or 8 years of plant trials, During the hard winter of 2010/11 is was subjected to temperatures as low as -25C, so this new introduction is both stable and most certainly hardy.
