I have been wanting a “manual” human powered lawn mower for some time and I am so pleased I chose the Husqvarna 64, which has a 16 inch cut.
OK, it may be more expensive and I paid for this one out of my hard earned cash, rather than receiving it for review, but it is well made and cuts very well.
Indeed it takes almost no effort if the gras is not to long, and it leaves a very good finish.
However it does have to be said that the grass has a very slight ‘rippled’ look on top after cutting, this is not unusual on cheaper cylinder mowers and it is caused by the lack of cutting blades. Which at the end of the day are expensive to make as they are hardened steel. You get what you pay for.
I went for the grass box as an extra and once you work out how to attach it to the mower (there was a lot of trial, error – well more error that trial, but in the end I worked it out and it does a fair job at collecting the clippings.
I am fairly happy with the mower and yes, I would buy it again, but maybe, just maybe I should have gone to an auction and bought and old machine from the 1940s with a better blade, but then that would have been so much harder to push.
Carbon neutral, eco friendly mowing here I come…
